Hello Everyone,
 From the wealth of Winefest information which Cheryl Collins was kind enough to leave with me, I have found your names and email
addresses as part of a group of Winefest Volunteers from previous years.

We are going to need nearly 50 volunteers this year to cover one of three shifts on Saturday, September 21st.
As Cheryl did last year, I am looking for volunteers to work the gates and poster booth for this year's event.
Can we count on you again?

There will be three shifts  (4 hours each) at the following times:
       8:00 - 12:00
      11:00 - 3:00
       2:00 - 6:00

This year, if you volunteer for me for one of the shifts listed above, you will receive:
     2002 Winefest T-Shirt!
     2002 Winefest Wine Glass!
     Voucher for your lunch & plenty of water to rehydrate!
      Free admission to the event!

Representatives from the Durango Wine Festival have contacted some Colorado
wineries about pouring at the Durango Wine Festival on Saturday, August 24,
1-4 PM at Durango Mountain Resort. I have heard from the Durango organizers
that response from Colorado wineries has been less than enthusiastic.

I will be available to pour your wines at that festival if you want to
participate but cannot spare the staff to pour that weekend. They have drawn
500-600 people in the previous years. Since other wines are  being poured, I
imagine that they will need about 4-6 bottles of each type of wine donated
for the grand tasting (this is of course a charity fundraiser for a local
organization).

If you are able to attend the tasting, Chris Wing at the Silver Pick Lodge
(970.259.6600) will put you up for the night. He has a number of Colorado
wines on his compact wine list, and is hoping to see a show of support from
Colorado.

Chris also has one or two more wine dinners to organize. He would like to do
a dinner with several wines from one winery, preferably with the winemaker,
but will also do a Colorado dinner with several wineries involved. The
four-course dinners will be for 30-60 people and require about 6 bottles of
wine for each course. We might be able to work out some deal with the
restaurants for at least partial compensation of the dinner wines.

The event is four weeks from this coming Saturday, so we need to work fast.

want me to pour your wines.

Southwest Wine Competition

According to a call I received from Shirley Jones, the Southwest Wine Competition will be held in
Las Cruces, New Mexico on November 22-23.  More information will be available later.
