Winery Fax from Doug Caskey at the CWIDB
Subject: NCSL Reception
Date: Thu, 11 Jul 2002 13:36:46 -0600
From: "Doug Caskey" <dcaskey@coloradowine.com>
Given the nature of the National Council of State Legislators reception
on
July 24th (i.e.. this is a political promotion rather than a sales
promotion), the Wine Board will provide the wine for this reception
from its
promotional inventory. If you had agreed to donate wine for this event
you
will no longer need to.
We will probably be asking wineries to participate in the Junior Livestock
Sale at the Colorado State Fair on Wednesday August 21, 2002. More
details
to follow.
Also, I am planning a trip to the Grand Valley and Delta County beginning
July 15th and will begin collecting promotional wine at this time.
I will
call you to make arrangements for picking up the first case of wine
that the
CWIDB will buy this year. Thanks!

Thanks to those wineries who signed up to participate in the Denver
Taste of
the Nation on July 28. This is a great event and I know you will get
great
exposure.
My Western Slope trip, which was postponed due to car trouble this week,
is
back on for Saturday, July 20 through Tuesday, July 23. My daughter
will
probably still accompany me but she has requested that we never go
camping
again--so there. I will be picking up the one case of promotional wine
that
the CWIDB will be purchasing at 50% off your retail price for the first
part
of fiscal year 2003. When I visit your winery, we can decide which
wine you
want the Wine Board to purchase for promotional events. I would prefer
to
purchase a solid case of one product.
These wines should be itemized on a zero invoice to Augustina's Winery
in
Boulder. On a separate invoice to the CWIDB list promotional activities
instead of the wine and gill the board for 50% of your retail price.
Please
call me with any questions. I will use this supply of wine to supply
the
National Council of State Legislators on July 24 rather than soliciting
donations from wineries.
I will ask you to consider participating in the Junior Livestock Sale
at the
Colorado State Fair in Pueblo on Wednesday, August 21. This event has
also
been very successful in introducing Colorado wines to the dignitaries
and
affluent consumers from all over the state, especially the Front Range,
who
come to bid on the kids' champion livestock. The event draws between
800-900
people for the entire afternoon.
Organizers have agreed to pay 50% of wholesale for their wine, or in
other
words, they will buy one case of wine at wholesale for each case that
you
donate to this event. Last year we supplied 25 cases of wine for the
event
and went through most of them. I would like to shoot for the same amount
this year. I think it would be ideal to get four cases of each wine
offered,
however, I understanding that donating two cases of a particular wine
may be
difficult.
You will not necessarily need to provide anyone to pour your wine at
the
event. If, however, you have a representative available to pour your
wines,
I will gladly accept the assistance. These wines will be billed though:
Jim Beatty, concessionaire: 719.382.4380
License: Beatty's Arena, #21-46090-0005, CO State Fairgrounds, Pueblo,
CO
81004
Wholesalers can deliver the product themselves if you make the arrangements,
although we have had problems in the past getting them to deliver to
the
correct licensee at the State Fairgrounds. If you make arrangements
to get
your wine to either my office in Boulder or the Dept. of Agriculture
in
Lakewood, I will deliver the wine if you prefer. I will need an invoice
to
Beatty's Arena with the wine.
Thank you for considering this opportunity. Please contact me with any
questions.
